PowerDirector error

I had been (stupidly) running my vids into VirtualDub and then putting the resulting edits into PowerDirector for video compression to stay under the 100mb limit here.

then I realised that I could do more or less everything I needed via PowerDirector itself and cut out a process.
saves a shitload of time.

this was fine until recently when I had to put XP back on - when I put PD on again I keep getting an error and the application has to close.
the error is pretty cryptic 0xc000005 and a google search yielded no results.

has anyone come across this problem?

the build of PD is 7.0.2519 - as far as I know that is the latest patch.

aye - have tried that and still the same
