    Default Valley of Fire

Took these on a recent hiking trip to a place called the Valley of Fire.

I'm disappointed because the rocks were a lot more red in person. Maybe it was the camera, maybe it was an illusion?

The uploader is really tedius (one at a time) so I'll upload more another time.

Pug I guess I need to get a better photo editing program, because mine doesn't have a colr saturation adjustment.

Any way here's some more shots.

No GC I use an old version of Corel PhotoSuite, I'm too cheap to buy something, and probably too set in my ways to use something new.

I think you were close GC with the color, but maybe a little more.

DO you think color is lost in the digital camera or do you think it was an illusion?

could be the camera ( not sure what you are using ) and could also be your monitor. pro snappers calibrate their monitors to ensure a true colour view onscreen. could also be the curve on the camera . a lot of auto point and shoots fall back to a medium setting on everything to enable what the curve sees as the best possible allround setting......

Those are some very interesting pictures bigdig. I'm nearly sweating just thinking about how hot it must have been hiking in that area. The 4th shot in the 1st group is very interesting, with the writing on the rock. Tell us a little about that 6th shot in the 2nd group....kind of looks like a sculpture that has weathered away, almost like a pyramid.

Magnum, it was only about 95 degrees that day, which is fairly comfortable in the dry air. The writing was on the rock at the top of tghe stair tower. It was scattered throughout the park also. They are called petroglyphs. They are ancient indian artwork. The rock formation is natural, I'm pretty sure. It was outside the park on the ride back to Vegas, not far from the north side of Lake Mead. I think I tool about 100 pics that day. A lot look the same. These pics stood out in my opinion.
