That's what my first thought was when passing this object on sea.

Not sure what it was, it was to small for a oil platform.

But for one second i sure felt like Tom Cruise

The red colours are very dramatic, and Iike the platfrom, it shows a sense of scale of the open sea.

I agree about the red creating a dramatic effect.

In the original War of the Worlds soundtrack (Jeff Wayne), there is a part about the martians turning the sky a blood red color, how spooky.

Looks really cool with the red tint. My guess would be some sort of Drilling platform. Perhaps it was a section being tugged for later assembly on location?

Sure looks like an oil rig to me, but not sure. Very nice pic. The water glistening in the sun really add a great effect. This would make a great desktop background.
