Do you ever discuss candids with friends or co-workers?

I showed them off to ALL my friends AND my parents. I even gave my Mom 2 framed candids for Christmas.

She only liked one.

Of course, these were only the ones where I was out there trying to look like a real photographer

i guess i'd like to but never have becuse someone has to talk first and you are laying a very private , potentially embarrassing part of you on the line . if someone was to raise the subject with me ,and i was able to ascertain that he (or she ) was cool with it i would be happy to talk about it. but i also think that this board is a godsend for these reasons because i can discuss my secret hobby with like-minded ,sympathetic people in relative anonymity .

I've told 2 guys (1 at work, 1 on WoW) and showed them some of my pics. They liked them but are not the photographer types. My wife sort of knows I take candids. She's seen me take pics of women when we go on vacation and stuff. Knows that I take my camera everywhere. When I take hip shots she tells me you know your just shooting the ground again. Guess she is either covering me or has no clue about hip shots. Other then that most people would be amazed I do candids. Like others most think I'm a very helpfull, caring, sweet guy....which I am. I'm just also on the lookout for nice subjects to shoot. I enjoy the hunt so to speak. I try to keep limits and "no shoot" zones for my protection, but dam is it hard sometimes.

Funny story, I just reconnected with my childhood friend (30 year old woman, hot and athletic) a couple months ago, and we've been talking, and I told her I spend a ton of time moderating this one message board. I wouldn't tell her the site, but eventually I told her I was into candid photography. She actually thought it was cool and thought it would be fun to take shots with me! She might end up being the next Sofie if we ever actually start taking shots together. She's married though, so I'm trying to figure out how I can pull this all off.

I'm hoping one day I can get some shots of her for the freestyle section....but I know I'd have to blur her face, she'd never allow me to do it otherwise.

So yeah, this would be the first person I actually know in real life that I've told. It kind of felt good to get that "secret" off my chest.

my best friend knows and has actually started going out to do some shooting with me lately which is really cool. also both my parents know about it and they dont seem to mind it too much.

I wish I could tell my family, but I'm just not sure how they react. If I go with any of them to an event, like a car show, I have to always have a bunch of "normal" shots from the event on a separate memory card so if they want to look at pictures I took, they aren't thumbing through my candid shots. It's such a freaking hassle sometimes.

oh man, I so recognize your dilemma with the normal pictures!

I use two different folders in my camera and change between them depending on what I'm about to shoot. My only concern is that I someday would forget to switch to the sff (suitable for family) folder when browsing through the family pictures...

Haven't discussed or told anyone irl about what I like to do.
