Default Moving pics from phone cam to PC

I've got a hand me down Sony Ericsson camera phone and I'm trying to move pics from it to my PC. I've tried sending them infrared to my palm pilot, but it doesn't accept the .jpg format. Is there an infrared attachment I can get for my PC that will allow it? What about blue tooth? I'm not too familiar with that technology.

-first of all what kind of Sony Ericsson are we talkin about? T68i? T616? T637? all 3 of those phones have bluetooth, a technology that will allow you to transfer data to and from any compatible device wirelessly. First you'll need either a bluetooth USB cable or bluetooth dongle. You can grab one at best buy for about $50 or on ebay for about $20 or so. Install the software onto your PC and you're ready to go. Just make sure BT is enabled on your phone

-I wouldn't waste my time with infrared unless you're looking to transfer images to a palm that has an IR port.... most PCs and laptops do not.

-a data cable can be used to get images off the PC. best place to look is ebay (i do a TON of shopping there....it's where i bought my nokia)

T616. Well, the phone has blue tooth enabled. My PC doesn't have blue tooth yet, that's why I was asking about it. The reason I was asking about the infrared to my palm was because I have the palm synced to my PC already and figured I could just transfer them that way. Thanks for the insight.

    Question What is a Bluetooth.

•A global initiative by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba to set a standard for cable-free connectivity between mobile phones, mobile PCs, handheld computers and other peripherals. It will use short-range radio links in the 2.gGHZ Instrumentation Scientific and Medical (ISM) "free band".

•Bluetooth is a computing and telecommunications industry specification that describes how mobile phones, computers and PDAs can easily interconnect with each other and with home and business phones and computers using a short wireless connection.

•An open specification for seamless wireless short-range communications of data and voice between both mobile and stationary devices. For instance, it specifies how mobile phones, computers and PDAs interconnect with each other, with computers, and with office or home phones. The first generation of Bluetooth permits exchange of data up to a rate of 1 Mbps per second, even in areas with much electromagnetic disturbance. ...

•A wireless connection that enables devices to exchange information.

•Bluetooth is a technical industry standard that facilitates communication between wireless devices such as mobile phones, PDAs (personal digital assistants) and handheld computers, and wireless enabled laptop or desktop computers and peripherals. A single Bluetooth-enabled wireless device is capable of making phone calls, synchronizing data with desktop computers, sending and receiving faxes, and printing documents. ...

•A radio technology built around a new chip that makes it possible to transmit signals over short distances between computers and hand-held devices without the use of wires.

•Bluetooth is the name given to a radio technology making transmission of signals over short distances between telephones, computers and other devices, like household appliances, without the use of wires.

•Bluetooth Special Interest Group, http://www.bluetooth.com - a consortium of computer and telecommunications companies founded in 1998 by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba - it supports an open specification for wireless, short-range transmission between mobile PCs, mobile phones and other portable devices

•The code name for a new wireless technology developed by Ericsson Inc., Intel Corp., Nokia Corp. and Toshiba. The technology enables data connections between electronic devices such as desktop computers, wireless phones, electronic organizers and printers in the 2.4 GHz range. Bluetooth would replace cable or infrared connections for such devices.

•A standard for providing short-range wireless connections between computers, Pocket PCs, and other devices. This provides a fast, convenient way to exchange information between a Pocket PC and a computer. Also can be described as a "personal wireless network".

•An open standard for short-range (10 meters) and low speed (up to 1Mbps) wireless transmission of digital voice and data in the unlicensed 2.4GHz band, which supports both point-to-point and multipoint applications, developed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

•BlueTooth is a promising standard for shortrange wireless communication. BlueTooth uses the same frequency as WaveLan but with much less effect but anyhow some claim that a WaveLan can not co-exist with a fully equiped BlueTooth environment. All the BlueTooth units together will create so much disturbances that the WaveLAN will stop to work. The bandwidth is about 700-800 kbit and has a range of approximately 10 meter. ...

•A low-power, short-range wireless technology designed to provide a replacement for the serial cable. Operating in the 2.4GHz Ism band, Bluetooth can connect a wide range of personal, professional and domestic devices such as laptop computers and mobile phones together wirelessly.

•A short-range wireless specification that allows for radio connections between devices within a 30-foot range of each other.
    people.morrisville.edu/~drewwe/wireless/glossary.htm
•A recently standardized technology for wireless local data and voice communication, currently covering distances up to approx. 5 meters.

A short-range radio technology that allows the wireless networking of devices. In future many mobile phones, organisers and also PCs will routinely have a Bluetooth capability. The radio link can be up to 10 metres and allows data to be exchanged between mobile phones and organisers. Line-of-sight is not required between the devices. Bluetooth transmits in the frequency range 2.4 to 2.4835 GHz and achieves data rates of up to 721 kilobits per second.

•a short distance, low speed radio frequency technology primarily used to allow a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or mobile phone to interact with a laptop of desktop computer.

•Bluetooth is a low power radio technology replacing the need for wires connecting electronic devices such as personal computers, printers, palm top computers and mobile phones.

•A short-range radio technology aimed at simplifying communications among Internet devices and between devices and the Internet. For wireless devices, it is an open specification for seamless wireless short-range communication of data and voice between mobile and stationary devices.

•protocol, standard> Bluetooth is the new standard for wireless radio communications. It facilitates between devices such as mobile phones, PDAs and computers. For more details, see www.bluetooth.com

•Bluetooth is a wireless personal area networking technology initially proposed by Ericsson. It uses FHSS in the 2.4GHz ISM band at approx 1600 hops/s. Data rates of up to 1Mbit/s over a range of 10m can be achieved (range can be extended). Bluetooth is the "cableless" technology intended to allow radio interfacing of peripheral devices and will be seen in many consumer devices such as PDAs.

•Technology specification being created for short-range wireless connection (up to 10 meters) using low-cost transceiver chips to be embedded in mobile computers, smart phones, and other portable devices. Provides three voice and data channels via a one-to-one connection with built-in encryption and verification.

•A standard technology being developed by a consortium of large IT and communications firms that allows computers, computer peripherals, and certain household appliances to communicate with each other over shortish distances without the need for connecting cables. They use short-wave radio frequencies. Examples include a PC sending a file to a printer.

•Bluetooth is wireless protocol for sending audio and video data between mobile computers - laptops, notebooks, Handheld Computers, PDA's and other blue tooth enabled devices including print servers.

•A new short-range wireless initiative for connecting wireless phones to computing devices etc.

•Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs).
